Song problems
Hi! So I have recently started writing my own song on guitar which is pretty impressive for me as I have only been learning for a short while. The song is quite mellow and pretty but the problem is that I have NO CLUE what i can base the lyrics on! I could possibly do the predictable and ever tedious 'love song' OR come up with some amazing, new, interesting theme to base it around. However, I just don't have that kind of ability which is why I am coming to you bloggers. I need a song subject and would love input! So leave your suggestions as a comment. Thank you, J x

Hmmm, Interesting problem J, You could always do the death of a friend, Missing a person who lives far away/you don't talk to anymore there's so many things you could write about... Even somthing like a song about a person who's battling an addiction of some sort. And there is always the idea thats a sure fire win, look for fables or sayings and write a song around that, par example, "there are plenty more fish in the sea" or "Keep your friends close or your enemies closer". Just go with somthing that could mean somthing to you in the end, if the lyrics sound good to you and make you happy, then consider it a sucess. :)
ReplyDeleteHi thanks :) really appreciate it the problem is, with slow songs I really don't want to risk it being a suicide song like 'gloomy sunday'. Plus I think that the best songs are the ones that come deep from within and release a tiny part of the writers song. This is why I don't just want to choose my lyrics doolaly. Y'know?! I guess u just want the song to be really personal to me. On the other hand your suggestions are definately helping and really opened my eyes to possible choices. So keep suggestions coming and when I finally complete the song I shall say what it's about and who knows! I may even post the lyrics ;) x
